CME Alumni Quotables

On behalf of all serious students everywhere, and on behalf of all who want to increase their "quiver of arrows" in mediation, thank you for a wonderful informative seminar [Critical Thinking] filled with practical suggestions for generating movement and breaking impasse.  I wish all mediation seminars were like yours. I can listen to CME tapes all day long and rarely do I get even 1/8th  of the useful practical tidbits you provided. I am an experienced mediator and I truly picked up a lot from you in one day.

After 27 years as a mediator and 34 years as an attorney, I am pretty jaded about seminars - especially seminars by academic mediators without a litigation background.  I was pleasantly surprised and satisfied by your presentation of Strategic Choices.  The content was great, even where the subjects were dull.  Your humor, your insights as a businessman, as an attorney and as a mediator and your ability to engage the audience were all outstanding.  For my money you are the best in the mediation training business.

Mediator Predicaments is solely responsible for avoiding a potential claim against me as a Court appointed mediator in an estate matter. I was comfortable with the candid discussions amongst the attorneys on the record and the Court's order disclosing my former association with one of the attorneys involved. However, the potential problem was with the litigants, not the attorneys, in this highly emotional family dispute involving lots of money. The subsequent mediator described the parties as unreasonable who were grumbling loudly about their lawyers. It is very easy to understand the headache I've avoided due to this course. Thank you again.

Also, having now attended your 3rd mediation course, nothing in this area of the country compares to the professional and practical elements that you provide to a successful and growing mediation practice. Please keep me on the mailing list.

I wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed the Advancing the Profession CME Seminar.  I have attended numerous CME seminars for CME credit, but none have even approached the level of information and "hot tips" that yours did.  I truly obtained more benefit from your seminar than any other seminar I have attended in the past.  The seminar provided an excellent mix of your presentation and audience interaction.  You are truly the "guru" of Florida mediators.

Perry Itkin's CME Seminar Masterful Mediation is outstanding.  Both informative and entertaining, Perry is a consummate professional.  I received valuable insight, perspective and up to the minute information.  I highly recommend Perry's CME seminars to anyone in need of CME or seeking generally to improve his or her mediation knowledge and skills.

My practice involves large complex civil actions and probate and trust litigation. I have been a certified Circuit Court Civil Mediator since 1995.  This was the first mediation seminar [CPR for Your Mediation Practice] which had any substance and educational value to me. You were an excellent teacher and moderator and the content of your program was very informative and thought-provoking.  The problem is that some people put on “touchy feely” seminars that serve no useful purpose in informing lawyer-mediators of pending changes in the law, ethical opinions, malpractice problems, and mediation case law.  Your seminar was not like most of these, and I am grateful for it.  I will gladly attend another one.

Your seminar Hidden Challenges was truly interesting and enjoyable.  You gave great new insight into how to be a better mediator and refreshed the underlying principles of mediation.  I learned how better to protect myself and participating attorneys against subsequent challenge to the mediation process/agreement.  Over the last 13 years as a full-time mediator I've suffered through many hours of mandatory CME.  Now I understand why a Jacksonville attorney also attended even though he satisfied his CME requirement at your seminar last year.  Your courses will be my only choice for future CME seminars.  I will regularly visit your blog on Florida Mediator now that I realize it's written by someone with good sense.

We felt compelled to write to express how much we enjoyed the Advancing the Profession CME seminar.  Your program is absolutely the best, bar none, of any we have taken since becoming certified County Court mediators in 2003.  We will recommend you and your CME seminars to our colleagues and look forward to participating in future CME seminars that you host.  Please accept our sincere thanks for providing an intellectually stimulating, informative and timely program.

My wife and I were trained by Perry as Mediators and have also taken his CME courses.  We have found Perry to be consistently the most organized and professional trainer of all those we have taken courses with.  His materials are not only up-to-date and current with the changing Supreme Court CME requirements, but he also makes the learning process interesting and enjoyable.  We highly recommend Perry's courses in both respects: mediator training and CME.

I recently attended Perry Itkin’s Exploring Problem Solving Frontiers CME Seminar.  Perry’s relaxed but informative style, coupled with his many years of mediation experience, both stimulated my thinking, and renewed my passion for mediation and its infinite possibilities for resolving conflict.  In addition to surveying the emerging case law, he gave us practical, wise advice for avoiding impasse, empowering parties, and dealing with the many forms of domestic violence.  This was time well spent.  Perry Itkin is the “Thinking Person’s Mediation Trainer.”
